Something special from Wales

In preparation for returning to University I was set a mini sort of dissertation to complete. It was all about the use of multi media technology in the promotion, exhibition and display of contemporary fashion, which was actually really interesting if not a little bit frustrating at times as I am definitely not a technology person. Technology aside, the concepts behind the use of some of it is very interesting, particularly the use of it by Welsh designer Gareth Pugh.

For his Autumn/Winter 2009 collection,Pugh presented his catwalk show in video form. The Video which was made in collaboration with Ruth Hogben was launched during Paris Fashion week and has since been posted all over the Internet including on popular video sharing website youtube.com. When I first saw this I was mesmerised and I am still in love with it now. The video is beautiful and it puts Pugh's clothes into a context that makes them make sense, something not always understood about his collections on a traditional catwalk. The movement of clothes with the combination of the music and editing makes this video memorable for all the right reasons.

Check it out....

Fashion week

This time of year in London the fashion scene is hectic with everyone preparing for London Fashion Week. Usually I am there working for the event but this year I am busy preparing for other exciting things meaning I will have to keep up with whats happening online. A lot of people have begun to dismiss London in the schedule of international fashion weeks, but there are so many talent designers that make it one of my favourite amongst the bunch. This season I will be keeping an eye on so many designers, these are just a few to mention...

Hannah Marshall.... I attended her presentation at On/Off a few seasons ago and her garments are so beautifully made. The designer herself is also really lovely and deserves all the success she has achieved.

House of Holland.... We all know that House of Holland means fun fashion. Colourful, playful and something for everyone.

Christopher Kane.... He is one of my favourite designers ever. His designs are really feminine and a visual feast.

Jasper Conran...I met him backstage at his catwalk show a few seasons ago and he is fabulous, not to mention his designs are lovely.

Im home!

I just got back from my summer in Europe and looking back at the last six weeks, can't believe all the things I have seen and done. From climbing the Acropolis in Athens, to taking a gondolier ride in Venice and haggling in the bazaars of Istanbul, Europe has definitely shown me its many different cultures and all I can think about is going back.

We started our trip in Brussels and did a huge loop of the continent visiting 15 different countries in just 43 days and taking trains the whole way. Everyday was something new and we met so many interesting people from all over the world, each with a different story to tell. I surprised myself with my ability to adapt to the different cultures. Eastern and western Europe are so different but each just as charming as the other.

I am currently working my way through hundreds of photos and once I get them together I will be giving a full report on my adventures complete with the bizarre, lovely and just plain funny stories of what we got up to. Until then here's just a couple of cheeky snaps....

Sunrise, 5.30am off the coast of Greece...
